GOOD/BAD Coaches Organizations, where to play in 2013-14?

I'm curious to see how the tone of these posts change after nationals this year.
Smart parents tend to keep their mouth shut until after the season is over so that they can receive the uninterrupted exposure their DD needs and not harm other players in the org.
Might be a good time for coaches, orgs and parents to tie up some loose ends before it hurts student athletes that may be turned away by this years dirty laundry.
PS. This post is not a direct reflection on my DDs team or org.,we are extremly pleased with what she has recieved this year. (generic org name inserted here)
Good luck to everyone at nationals and selecting an org for next year.

I think we should start one about good/bad parents , with names .
As I was opening this thread I was thinking the exact same thing to myself Dan. I know the manager makes the calls and the line up card, etc, etc, etc but what about the parent that brings their children 10 min before game time, policy states that if they are late, they will sit, but late in the game when a courtesy runner is needed, dad gets all steamed because I didn't use his DD (WHO FLIES)???? I didn't put us in this position...You did! What about the parent that sits in the bleacher and cheers for 1 Player ALL GAME, EVERY GAME and when we are not playing as well as we should, complains that they could put a rec ball team together that would beat our team. I'm not certain, but POSITIVE that every team has their share of this, but it's always "the managers fault" I would like to consider myself a pretty good coach. I play all 11 every chance I have even when I know it makes us much worse. I pay the same fees as every other family. I am a rules guy but you know it up front. Do this... and this is the punishment. I have spoke to several other managers about this too. Its a dog-gone shame that bad parents are driving away good coaches. It's just not worth the BS anymore. My advise to parents, if you love your manager or even just like him and are really happy with your current situation.......Tell him or her thank you. Let them know that you appreciate all that they do to help your child. Trust me, it's a lot more time than you will ever know and it's all UNPAID!!!!!!

Well I think there is a lot to be said for org's letting you maintain your own money instead of a single person controlling it. In the grand scheme of things you are just playing for a named org and what you get out of it is what makes the difference, that's why the better players and teams for that matter migrate to those org's its no secret. Its taken me a couple yrs to figure it out plus some useless poaching from our fearless leader to figure out. I want to wish Dan Kepple and his group a peaceful transfer to the Lasers next season and all others seeing the light. I will make a formal announcement on here soon to tell everyone where we will be next season. Good Luck in your try-out seasons everyone.

And it begins.

Thats a shame 25's but is the state of the affairs unfortunately, but do it for the kids if you can hold out for them and not the parents. The dead weight will and can come and go, for those i say, please leave there's the door, or better yet, go start your own team. But those coaches leaving the game because of them, makes them win. If you love it don't throw it in yet, maybe that one kid might come along next year that you could change their life forever!

I just wish I had the time to do it again, that thing called work stinks, I loved being around the kids, they keep you young!

I think its safe to say when you see several teams bailing or coaches quitting every year from the same organization that's a red flag. When money handling questions have been brought up more than once from the same organization, that also is not a good thing.

This happens every year, coaches leave for one reason or the other........it happens in EVERY ORGANIZATION and its more a reflection on the coaches then the organizations they leave.........grass always looks greener on the other side of fence..........but usually it's not........I think as a coach you get out of the organization what you put into it. For every 2 or 3 that leave there are 4 to 6 wanting to join and even more that stay put...........so I think everyone has the right to move on, but when you try to blame it on the organization as to why your moving on, that shows more about the coaches character then the organization, because the organization was there before you came and it will be there when you leave.

Well said 99Dad... My team decided as a group to move from the Hawks to Team Combat for couple of reasons. At Team Combat we have a facility with two great softball fields, indoor facility for winter and most importantly we will be the only 16U team with the Combat endorsement and sponsorship. I wish the Hawks the best, we had a great 5 yr. run with them.

I would have to say that the Ohio Starz are a first class organization! They are classy people who really care about each of their teams and their girls. I have watched their 10,12 and 14u team and parents have seen nothing but class and that is with winning and losing!!
Also Pittsburgh Riot- Henry GREAT people!!!

Well said Matthew. I am familiar with your system and have always thought you to be fair with your players. I have to admit that at one point this year i was one of those "parents" but quickly identified my shortcomings and adjusted. Hopefully everyone realizes that most coaches (not all) no matter the organization are truly trying to do their best for 10-12 girls put in their charge. Good luck to all of them!
