I thought that the Classics 10U team was entered in this tournament - what happened to them?

They came to Wilmington as a last minute entry.

Hope my Phoenix 14u girls are doing great. Love the picture of the new "teal" uniforms. I framed it.

Re: Phoenix Summer Slam 2008 Pony National Qualifi

The Phoenix Summer Slam 2008 was a great success despite the weather. All teams did get their 5 game guarantee and played some very good softball. We would like to thank all the teams, coaches and fans that attended from all over Ohio to make it a great success. We would like to give a special thanks to the people who went above and beyond on what they needed to do to help these teams get those games in. A great big thanks to Gus Bumgartner, who did a great job bailing me out as the tourney director and the UIC and to Brain Stuck, who any time of day or night, or weather conditions will be there to bale me out. I know the diamonds could not have been anywhere near ready with out your knowledge and work. To the umpiring staff who came from near and far to do this tourney. A great big thanks to the Phoenix parents and coaches for all they did to make the tournament a success. Dave and Heather Bathrick who donated their concession stand to us, when they should have used it at the 2 weddings that they were catering. Thanks to the Rothwells of Sports Threads in Grove City for coming and doing the fantastic tournament shirts. We hope everyone had a great time and we hope to see you next year at Summer Slam 2009.

This was a well run tournament despite the rain that just kept popping up! ?

Great job Akron Sapphires! ?
Way to fight your way out of the losers bracket and win the championship game twice!!!
This team never gave up and won in an international tie breaker!

There was an Akron Sapphires 16U team playing in the ASA Classics tournament this past weekend. ?I'm guessing this is a different Sapphires team (since I believe both of these tournaments were held at the same time). ?Are they from the same organization? ?No particular reason for this question, just being nosy.

The ASA team was our 16U team. The team that won this tournament was our 15U team
