Well, everyone wouldn't be gone - those last four teams are still there!

Is it a problem about sending t-shirts to the winners? Or wanting to make the announcement while more people are there (which is good, but if you're warming up for your second game, ready to make an impression, the announcement probably isn't a lot of incentive :))

Just a quibble - being on the first team isn't the intent of the weekend. But it really doesn't seem fair to give some girls two games to shine, and others only one.

I agree it isn't fair. But it is true that literally everyone would be gone if we waited until all the games were over, because it takes some time to choose the team. If it took just 20 minutes to choose the first team after all the final games ended, everyone would be gone.

Yes, one could make a good argument that it's better to wait until the end and send t-shirts to the girls on the 1st Team and announce it through an e-mail to everyone. I imagine Kirt and staff have discussed that, but I'm not sure. I'll bring it up and see where it goes.

I don't know about all the girls but I do know that 2 of the 1st team QDSN hadn't even started their 2nd game yet.
These girls must have made quite an impression in the 1st game

My dd has attended in the past, I really appreciate all the hard work Kirt and his family do by putting this on FOR the girls. Believe me.... The coach's are there to watch the games. yes it would be nice to be on first team or MVP but its not do or die. They watch the games they see who does what. I think Kirt should probably do away with the MVP. The reason the girls are there in the first place is to showcase their talents. Not always the best in the games have been choosen. I think alot of people walk away scratching their heads asking why would that person make it. And i think basically the Cages are hard to choose its just going to be pitchers. (they did the cages different this year and i wasn't there so i'm not sure about this year) i've watched in the past but i'm sure the college coach's could tell who had the talent and who didn't. I don't think unless they elliminate it all together there is not going to be a way to make every one happy.. remember this is for the girls and to showcase their talents and he is giving you the opportunity two times in the year to do this in front of at least 100-200 college coaches.

hermom has a point. Maybe the mvps are not necessary. My daughter has received one previously. This year there were no cage mvps awarded. Another thing that was not available this year was catcher's pop time.

just for kicks, we calculated that it cost us $54 per at bat (6 for the three cage/games). Out of that, my daughter had four nice hits (one was caught but was still a nice hit). that is more than $75 per hit. i'm not complaining--i have just begun watching how much we spend on softball every year. this is my first year tracking--i am sure that is why we never have any money.

i was impressed with the pitching talent this year. there are always some that are slow or out of control, but i think that there was much more strong pitching talent this year than the last couple of years. i was also at qdss, but it is harder to see the talent there with the fields spread out farther.

That may have been due to the change in NCAA rules.

Faith pitched great, my dd went against her in the cage at QDSN, it will be exciting to see the two of them square off against one another when school ball starts, A real show to look forward to, congrats to Faith and Bethany for a job well done

Just came back from Cup 2008 in the Neirtherlands and Faith recieved the best pitcher award for the Tournament. George (Faith's dad) and I were watching our dd's play against each other in a game and we were wanting a match up with Faith and Chrissy. It was a great time over seas and very good ball was played.

Faith got a bit rattled before her last game, as another coach commented something on her style... I told her it ain't broke, don't fix it until someone in blue states so. She recomposed herself and got focused and just threw to the spot the glove was at.... The girl can bring it and as my dd stated, it makes her job easier as a catcher, when the pitcher puts it where it's supposed to be...

Lebanon should have a good team then this year having Faith and Bethany and senior Chelsea Kaunert all three on the mound.
