Best pitchers in O H I O 2010

I just wonder how many really good pitchers are out there that don't get the recognition they deserve because the teams they are on are not very good. I'm giving props to my DD, who for the last 2 seasons played for a HS team that was not good. She actually through a no-hitter in a game which they lost because there were so many errors. Yes, it really happened, and no DH was not keeping the books. She's been competitive for the last 2 seasons for travel ball and looking forward to next season. This year we've moved to an OCC school, so hopefully her talent gets stronger and she gets some recognition. I know there are other girls out there that deserve more recognition.

Era, I think every pitcher in the state has been mentioned in this thread.

Im excited for HS ball to go to 43 foot, more separation, more time to see the ball.... The offense will defiantly be on the rise

I bet there are more than a few in the same boat. My DD played for a very weak HS team. Won more games in her first week of college ball than she did in the last 2 years of HS ball. Needless to say she wasn't mentioned much when in HS, yet is getting plenty of recognition at the next level.

Not to take anything away from the skilled pitchers mentioned already, but HS success isn't the only measure of ability. Of course winning is a lot more fun. :)

Maybe I missed it, but are there no NW Ohio pitchers who rank near the top in the state? Did not Springfield and Clay's pitchers pitch them into the regionals over the last two seasons? Southview's pitcher is a junior and will be way tough. And Kim Bryson has been on the radar since she was a freshmen. Anthony Wayne's two pitchers seem to have won quite a few games and didn't Central's pitcher pitch them into the regionals last year? Now I have not seen most of the other girls mentioned, but do none of the NW Ohio pitchers compare?

Springfield's pitcher (Ashlyn Michalek) and Clay's pitcher (Casey Graham) are both at Owens Tech this year -- no longer HS pitchers.

Perrysburg's Kim Bryson is at Niagara University.

Dani Haley, the number one Anthony Wayne pitcher last year, was a senior. I haven't heard where she's attending college.

Lindsay Rich, the Perrysburg HS pitcher who's been mentioned in this thread, is very strong. She's a senior and (trust me on this) she's definitely throwing in the 60's. Anxious to see her carry the load of being number one this year. Till now she played in Bryson's shadow. BTW, she just announced Eastern Michigan a month or so ago. Good bat.

Olivia O'Reilly, the Sylvania Southview ace, really came on strong last season and raised eyebrows during the tournament season as well. She could be the best in the area. Very strong bat too, as she was one of the NLL leaders in BA. I think she's a junior -- though I could be wrong.

But the strongest NWO pitcher for my money is the girl from Toledo Central Catholic, Erin Seiler. She's a junior and was just about untouchable last year. Unfortunately her team didn't support her, so her record was less than spectacular.

Then at the end of the season she broke a bone in her rib cage, and I haven't heard how she's come back from that.

Assuming she's fully healed and back on track, I'd rank Seiler in the top tier of pitchers I've seen in the state.

Now, I haven't seen all of them -- or even half of the ones this thread mentions as the top ten. But I have seen several of them -- including the insanely good Erin Gabriel -- and that's my opinion.

My prediction for the top three in NWO for 2011:

Seiler
O'Reilly
Rich

Each one is capable of being the best in the area -- and one of the best in the state, IMO. Can't wait to see how they do.

We are originally from Sandusky and we've heard of Ashley Gilbert! We were home during the spring and were hoping we could catch a game, but they were away.

That's good to know! Of course we've moved, and hopefully she can prove herself at this level, but it's definitely good to know for the other girls in the same position.

I will say that while I have only see Gilbert throw one time, it was the AW tournament game and she made the AW hitters look foolish. She was amazing. Definitely deserves mention with NWO pitchers.
