Here is the trouble - Yes that team may tend to be watered down BUT and its a big BUT...
{
SIT DOWN NIKKI IM NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU}
There is a team and girls get to play - The goal of organizations should be to get girls to play softball - First and foremost, Then Training them to be better, Then helping them to get to the next level (Whatever that is) then winning but not winning at the expense of any of the other goals.
Especially at the 10 and 12 level - Winning should NEVER be your first goal - these ages should be about training and preparing for the next level - Winning is a plus but should not be the primary goal.
For the girls at the bottom level who would not play at all with out "BAD' Teams these "BAD" teams are a gift. They help the girls decide if they want to play - if they have a talent that can be developed.
If a team is willing to play and lose what is the harm in that?
Pirates longtime manager Chuck Tanner said "The greatest thing in the world is to win a Major league baseball game, The second best thing is to lose a major league baseball game" because either way you get to play the game...
My daughter played for two years at 10U on awful teams - it was hard sometimes to lose game after game BUT...
{
NO NOT TALKING TO YOU EITHER KIM}
A lot is learned in that struggle - My daughter decided to work hard and get on to a better team - and now is on a showcase team.
I see it happen over and over where girls from (for lack of a better term) "starter teams" Coached by dad's who don't really know what they're doing but want girls to play - go on to better and better things. Not every girl can start on the Beverly Bandits or Outlaws or Lasers or ____________ (at the risk of offending someone by the omision) but they want to play and are willing to take the lumps just to play.
So If you're DD is not happy on her current team go to a better one - But if she is, have her work to get better and maybe she can help make that team better or get to a better team next tryout season.
...most of all Relax and enjoy the ride -
