Our dd is on a new team this season (thank you very much, Coach Barry), and the girls all act like 11 BFFs, even though most are together for the first time. Again, thanks to Coach B, we will be experiencing mostly new tournaments for the first time. I am really looking forward to watching the girls, visiting new parks in Ohio, Ky, and Tenn. I think it's going to be a great spring and summer.

I know our dd is getting higher than a kite for the season. She told me last year, one of her favorite sights is seeing me pack the wheeled cooler with goodies, cold drinks and ice for a softball weekend. Really excellent times.

I'm looking forward to the excitement each tournament weekend brings. Some new places, some old places, but all of them with a great group of girls and their families. Another year of memories no matter what.

I keep thinking of new things to look forward to: The dd is rounding into shape after an injury, but it has been a blessing in disguise, I think. It has allowed her to work soley on getting stronger in her core, legs and upper body. Her Rehab PT is very pleased with progress. Oddly the pitching mechanics that caused her injury were corrected last fall, and I'm thinking, with a healthy, stronger, fitter body, she might really have a very good time on the field this year. So I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to develop.

What im looking forward to the most is Opening day of high school softball. Nothing like playing in Florida for your first 6 games of the year against teams that have already played 20 some games. In summer I am most looking forward to traveling to new places, and just having fun as this will be are last year of travel ball.

I am looking forward to the changes in the girls from last year to this year. with every year their defensive play gets better and bats get stronger. Girls who could not get it to the fence are hitting it off of it and the ones hitting off are going over. We have girls that have grown 3 to 6 inches in the off season ( not mine I think she is done at 5'1"). It will be interesting to see the difference it makes.
I had to work on the weekends the past two summers, not happening this summer. I will be sitting right on fence every game. So, Kavin, merlion, and alongfortheride you can save your minutes and your texting for some other time. No more play by play!! Thanks for keeping me in the game though... Looking forward to a great season!!!

we are playing mostly out of town this year... want to explore other Northern areas when normally we stay south of Columbus. No real reason for the past locations... new lineup and new places coupled with great folks!!!!! Can't wait.

My oldest, possibly playing against stronger teams, but at the level to where she can have the fun she wants with no real comitments. Youngest DD is on a new team. Looking forward to her development and the challenges that presents itself.

Mostly, and I think Musty can agree walking tacos.

I am very interested to see if the team can make the jump to a higher level of softball. The pitching and defense are there. Just need to see if the team can hit well enough to beat the best.

I have 3 playing (9U, 10U, 12U) so I get to see all types of softball. The 9U girls are very fun. The 10U girls want to just keep playing and having fun. And the 12U play to win. The 12U (98s) are totally different from last year. Bigger and they play with much more focus and drive than they did as a young 12s. They have an edge that the younger girls just do not have.

Bittersweet... warm weather, a summer with absolutely no travel for softball :(, but really looking forward to some stellar games at Stingrays in July! Even though DD's been gone 5 years, the wife & I still enjoy catching a few spring games at DD's HS alma mater.

We're looking forward to this season for many reasons.

The last two years have been rough. We had a coach who loves to travel. This, combined with the recession, put a huge financial strain on the family. Now, the economy is getting back on it's feet, and the team is only headed out of state twice.

'Looking forward to watching my daughter play her final year of Tournament Ball :)eek:) while being with a lot of good friends that she has made over the years. Soaking up the sun. Hitting the Red Cups on Saturday evening. Pigging out at Kidron...

Let's just hope that rain starts on Mondays and ends on Thursdays this summer.

You guys have me officially day dreaming.

In the 4 short years we have been playing travel it is the friends that I look most forward to seeing. And the problem is that we can spend the whole day watching all the different girls we know. Between the ones that we picked up, or that left the teams..........it is like we know half the girls at every tournament.

I've enjoyed having softball season starting now and ending in May the last couple years. It was nice to have the summer to go camping or whatever for the first time in a while. Blasphemer you may say! :) So for me it's the spring trip to FL and hopefully some extra games in May.

I'm looking foreword to finding a fat stack of 100 dollar bills that someone hopefully will drop in a tournament parking lot!

... the only problem with that idea is that we all "drop our hundreds" in the fall when coach collects team fees.

I’ve been doing this for a long time by the calendar (some say the sun dial) but it seems like yesterday when Shelby started playing fastpitch with a county Rec ball team. I know how much I looked forward to playing softball as a kid and young adult, and the same level of enthusiasm was obvious when my daughter got up on Saturday mornings. You would think after all these years it would become old or a nuisance.

For me, it still is exciting to put on my coaches shirt and drive many hours for a game. Although I admit to taking an occasional nap between games of a long weekend, my normal routine has me watching games when I’m not working with the girls that just need a little help before we play again. I’m still addicted to eating a hot dog at the park everyday, even when it’s noticeable by my belt line. Most of the time I’m one of the last to leave even if we’ve been eliminated.

I like watching a good game. I like watching the girls execute a play. I like seeing a big hit when the team needs it. I like seeing a base runner go another bag because she was paying attention. I like watching a pitcher come from behind in the count and get the batters out to save an inning for her team. I like watching good coaches doing their job and working the girls for 7 innings.

More importantly, I like seeing the love and understanding in the faces of the family as they hold her after a game----win or lose.

This is just a short list of the many things that make me smile and the core reasons I’ve stayed to be a part of the game after all these years. I see the young ladies display character, ethical behavior, composer, loyalty, develop pride, and establish a deep sense of commitment that carries into their adult life. Maybe it’s not me-------maybe it’s not from other coaches, but I feel the memories and life lessons learned from the experience is helping hone the young ladies to be productive citizens in society.

If I can help even one---------I’ll continue to volunteer.
