Checked the diamonds at Stebbins Field today and they looked pretty good. Need a little work but should be fine unless we get more rain then they are calling for on Friday. At this time it looks like a few showers at best and if thats the case we should be OK.

Can't do much about the chilly temps on saturday. I just hope that the wind is calm. My suggestion...keep them moving around coaches. :)

So, what are teams going to do about their composite bats? do most girls not even bring them out, use them anyway, or switch to another bat? Is there even a bat made whose warrenty is not voided by low temps?

Not much response about the weather and bats. As I understand it the cold weather makes the ball harder which is what damages or dents the bats. If that is so how does a bat warmer help? We will be playing in the 30's and 40's and everything I've ever seen talks about the dangers of using composite bats in the 50's. Those Cali bat makers can't imagine the 30's and 40's. I guess using older bats is in order this weekend. :)

I love the cold!

Musty,
I thought the cold effected the composition of the bat causing it to contract and become brittle, didn't know it was the ball. Also, technically bat warmers are illegal. With that said, I know I watch alot of Big 10 softball in early spring when the temps are well below 50 and they don't seem to have a problem using composite and I have not seen one shatter. Maybe it's because they are furnished and a "poor" college player or parents aren't having to lay down the 300 bucks. ;&

Probably all of the above. Balls get harder and bats become brittle. I guess a bat warmer will keep the bat more flexible but if they are illegal whats the dif. Do the make ball warmers? lol Mandy will be using her old Synergy. We have an 8:00am game Sunday when the sun rises at 7:53am. Temps in the 20's, frost on the pumpkins and in the outfield. We gonna have some fun!

No Worries...the Heat is coming. OFC Heat!

Is that what you call it Musty...FUN? We play you guys at 8:00am on Sunday. I'm gonna hold you to that "fun" comment.

BTW: Who complains more about the cold weather? The parents or the players. My money is on the parents.

Players with RT and aluminum bats have more to worry about than players that swing composite bats.:D

Composite bats are more durable than aluminum and as far as the warranty goes. I have yet to have a MFG decline warranty on a bat in warranty regardless how/when we use it.
Swing Miken, best performance and durability/warranty.
