toledoted the tournament was actually an "A" and a "B" Eastern National ASA qualifier. The berths went to:

16U

Wizards Gold
Ohio Wave 15U

14U

Ohio Wave
Wizards Gold

In addition I think that we may be able to award one additional "B" berth to the OFC Heat who were actually the only "B" team that registered. I am waiting for the final word on this.

In the 16U and 14U divisions the results were as follows:

14U Division

1st : Ohio Wave ( 6-0 )
2nd: Wizards Gold (4-2)
3rd: Central Ohio Ice (3-2-1)
4th: Ohio Danger (3-3)
5th: Cincy Static (3-3)
6th: OFC Heat (Blast) (1-4-1)
7th: Diamond Dominators (0-6)
Just curious how these teams ended in a tie? If the Central Ohio Ice had won they would have been in the running for the berth.

There were a few ties in the 16U division as well. Since we had a round robin format, best record was decided with the typical point system if ties were involved - 2 points for a win/ 1 point for a tie/ 0 for a loss. So yes, ending in a tie could have made the difference between playing in the championship game or playing for 3rd, 4th,..... :(

Ok, guys, I'm pretty sure the question regarding the ties was WHY there was a tie if the tournament was advertising full games.

Oh thats easy. The rules were as follows:

Time Limit: 1 hour 40 minutes game time. Once the time limit is passed then the teams will complete the inning. Therefore, if the teams are able to play 8 innings within the time limt and the timer goes off then they will comlete that inning and the game is over.

The reason we used this format was because all games on all diamonds started at the same time. 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm. This allowed typically 10 to 15 minutes (give or take a few) to rake and line the diamonds for the next game. Actually I think that we
did not have any games not reach at least 7 innings. At least at Stebbins Field. In the older age groups there is no reason for a game to not be completed in that time frame barring an injury time out.

Overall teams seemed to be really happy with the format. We will use it again for sure.

It was a great tourn. And thanks for clearing up the A B thing I didnt know it was both.Facilities were great and look like they will be better after construction. And had good officials I only wish there were 2 for each field but due to other tourn's I understand why there was only one.Better to have one good ump. than 2 bad ones.:D

toledoted thanks for the kind words. We normally have two umpires all of the time and we will at our events next spring and summer for sure. These Fall tournaments are a little bit different story because many of the good umpires that we typically use were busy on saturday doing HS events such as volleyball, the grass fairy sport, and some were also football officials so they were just not as interested as they are in the spring and summer months. We worked hard to get the best plate umpires that we could and I think that we did that.

I wish that the new restroom / concession building would have been finished for this tournament but it got started a little later then they had anticipated. Next year it should be awesome as the ladies room has something like 6 or 8 stalls in the ladies room.
