I watched all of this go down, my DD wasn't playing for either team so I didn't have a dog in the fight. The coaches of both teams handled this situation in the best way possible, I was worried their might be blood shed from the parents if the game continued with the young boy behind the plate. It was the correct decision to stop the game and wait for an experienced umpire, the kid had guts to stick around all day on the 8u field and by Sunday he was running things pretty well on the 8u side.
For those of you just throwing coaches under the bus, you are wrong, this was not a situation of bad umpiring it was a complete disaster and removing the umpire was the only solution. It was a struggle getting umpires to show up for these games, they were all scheduled, not much a TD can do when he is put in that position.

This was not a "10u" coaching issue, it was just a really bad situation.

After carefully reading every post through 7 pages I have come to the conclusion the blame should fall directly and solely on the shoulders of the TD for putting a 15 year old kid, players, and coaches in a horrible situation.

This weekend was tough to find umpires. I sent out emails and texts to over 150 and only 2 were available. It is pretty simple to get ASA certified. Year 1 I got certified spent $200 for hat shirt bags brush went to 4 ASA meetings signed my card and the next week I was at the at stingray showcase.
