The facts of this subject seem to follow any of these scenerios.
a.) Dad coach, the kid is an okay player and gets preferential treatment.
b.) Dad coach, the kid is an okay player and the Dad rides her like a rented mule.
c.) Dad coach, the kid is a good player and plays where she has earned.
d.) Dad coach, the kid is a good player and Dad feels he's got to platoon her to
keep from being accused of "Daddy Ball".
I coached a long time at many different levels, and the fact is my oldest daughter was done after her Sophomore year. She and her Mother and I recognized her abilities and shortcomings. My youngest daughter, was a much better player from a young age, practiced a lot and earned every bit of where and when she played. All through those 16 years this subject has been alive and my wife, who hates this sort of stuff about sports, has told me it simply boils down to this. She would say, "Wayne, you could be 25 -0 and win every game by 10 runs, but all that matters to these parents is THEIR KID". It's simply impossible to make everybody happy. I really believe there are very very few coaches who sign up for this to simply put their daughter on a stage.
