Sammy,

I can only speak for 16U but here are the most attended (college coaches) tournaments we attended last year:

In Order -

1. Orland Park Sparks in Chicago, Il - Over 150 universities for pool play
2. Stingrays @ tOSU - I think we saw approximately 20-30 universities
3. Compuware in Canton, Mi - Again, 20-30 universities
4. ASA State Championship in Findlay, Ohio - 15 -20 universities
5. GAPSS in Columbus, Ohio - 5 - 10 universities

I read where Orland Park is approaching $700 this year but it's well worth it.

Just an FYI....Stingrays had over 50 colleges represented at our tournament.

DD's team attended all of those tournaments every year she played, with the exception of Orland Park which didn't exist then. Sluggerfest was another regularly attended event, but has fallen on hard times in recent years. The overriding goal was college exposure - and the major showcases we attended then (believe me!) were well worth the money. Also, Stingrays and GAPSS both have considerably more college coaches in attendance than you stated.

Run:

Have you seen an application for the 2011 Orland Park event? Because I haven't been able to find one.

Thanks.

CGS,

They will post them on their website at http://www.orlandparksparks.com/index.shtml. I went there a couple of times with my IL teams. . .sweet tournament. They have the pumpkin festivals listed right now. You can also contact their td to be sent applications as soon as it is available.

There are plenty of kids out there who want to play that just aren't quite to the level most teams are looking for, so it's not watered down. I am starting to believe the exact opposite is the case. With more teams, comes more players that have some sort of travel experience and a foundation to work from. If all you have showing up at tryouts are girls straight from rec. ball the quality is just not going to be there.
