I hate May!!!!!

Last May our oldest dd breaks her toe and misses 5 weeks of tournament action. Now this May she drops a 75 pound weight on her pelvis and does damage. Just got back from EMR and right now they can tell there is a 'dent' to the bone. They can not read the x-rays til Monday due to nobody will be there to read them til then. She can barely walk and is in serious pain.

They said there could be a break or crack in there. But we wont find out anything til Monday or Tuesday when we are to see a specialist. She will be out of action this weekend (Michigan tourny) but wont know how much time til next week.
Any doctors or nurses out there (on here) that would have a feel for how long we are looking at? Hey Kat you are a nurse, any idea (if you see this).

Looking at more time loss I guess. I hate the month of May!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a link for ya Hillbilly...http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00223

Treatment depends on the severity of the injury. In the case of a minor fracture, treatment may consist of bed rest and over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription pain killers. Physical therapy, the use of crutches, and surgery may also be recommended. Healing can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear, I'm sure. :(

Cheer up!! DD missed playing nearly all of her junior year in high school from a leg injury. Didn't affect her one bit. I'm betting your DD will come back refreshed after a break, and pick up right where she left off!!

Update as of todays appointment with family doctor................

She will be on bed rest til tuesday, when they read the film on her from the specialist. She is having her good moments walking and then times she can not even stand (you can tell when the pain killers kick in).
They are 90% sure from last night there is a fracture but wont know til Tuesday for sure.
There is a 'dent' on her pelvis bone from the injury yesterday and from an month old volleyball injury when she ran her side into a pole during volleyball practice. They can tell there is an old injury in there.

So............wont know anything til hopefully tuesday. Might be something not so bad or it could be season ending injury. Geez I wonder how this will turn out........

Kat - Thanks for the link. Looks very close to the paperwork we got last night from the ER. She was told to be on bed rest (like you mentioned) til then. You could of shared better news with us though, LOL!

Paul - Thanks buddy!

Dale - Bench press for high school volleyball. She had two spotters (guy and girl) and they got the barbell off of her right away, but the right side of the weights landed on her right side. I will get in touch with you later tonight after my boys birthday party about what we have been talking about and I will have your info for ya.

Sammy - She will bounce back like she did last year (hopefully) but I would hate to have her miss more time of tournament action. She can never get that time back.
But of course our #1 priority is with her health!

!

Bench press, I knew she was strong but how much was she lifting if at least 75lbs was on the right? I will be praying for her and your family and waiting for the good news after your visit today!
