Mandatory pitchers and catchers

Good Luck to all the young ladies. Nothing is optional. Softball players give their all to the game (or practice, conditioning). Good coaches take great mental notes. Ladies, sieze the opportunity. It will be gone before you know it. Shame on the OHSAA putting a rule on the books having the girls present and not be able to recieve instruction. A rule on the books contray to the growth of the student athlete. I wonder want they feel there job is?

Can a coach Mandatory all softball players to come to pitchers and catchers if they dont even play that position, and can they teach hitting during that period.

Officially, no they can not but unofficially we all know they can do pretty much what they want. Some coaches will tell players they are not allowed to have contact with travel teams (even though this is not true until their first scrimmage). Coaches are permitted however to have a team rule about no travel team contact after the mandatory report date on 3-7-11. Look for most to have this rule and do tryouts on or near this date.
