Hammers 16U Black is in neither the Stingrays or GAPSS. Not sure what the **** we have to do to get into these tournaments.

We'd like to be on the waiting list. We are good enough to play in this tournament and do well. What else do we need to do?

I can't imagine trying to whittle down that list of 90 teams (almost all of them strong) to 32 at the 16-U level.

I have no idea what all criteria the Stingrays use, but one thing I would advise for those who don't make it is to try to qualify for ASA "A" Nationals (or PGF/Premier) and go and do well. Once you do that, other than perhaps Independence Day (Boulder), you won't get left out of any tournament. Or if you don't qualify for the ASA "A" Nationals, go to Eastern or Northern and finish in the top two.

I can't imagine the Stingrays are leaving out any team that has finished in the top 33% of ASA A Nationals or that even qualified to go to Premier.

I noticed Westside Will deleted his post. He was the one that slammed us and a couple other teams when we made Best of the best in the Fall and he didn't. All we did was go 4-1 at BOTB against some pretty tough competition.

Difference is in this situation, I am not calling other teams out....I just want our girls in. I'm upset, but trying tohandle it with a little bit of class.

Sorry if it sounds like sour grapes. We just want to play in as good a tournament as we can get in within a few thousand miles.:)

If there are any teams that don't accept, we'd be the ugly sister in this case.

Careful Hammer. In my opinion too much crying about not getting in a tournament cheapens your organization. ;&

I will second JoeA's comments and recommendations.

An excellent example of his recommendation is the MC Madness Black. I would say if you follow what they did, then you would have no problem getting in any tournament.

What example is that.

What example is that.

They were formed in 2008 for their first year of play. They played in the 2011 Stingrays Tournament because in 2010, the team played a tough ASA schedule and won the 2010 ASA Eastern Regionals.

It is awful tough to turn away a team with that resume.

How did they do that? Start-up at 12U in 2008 and in 2011 play in Stingrays as a 14U? Well, you would have to ask Coach Gary that. Ask Doug Lenos in the Ohio Hawks organization. They started in 2007 and got in last year.

It can be done. Play and win (or do really well) in the ASA State, ASA Regional, ASA National Qualifier (there's your whole month of June's schedule). Get to the Big Show (USA/ASA Championships) or the newer Premier Championships.

The Cincy Doom North has 3 of the top 20 players for 2013 according to the buckeye scout. (martin, lauk and lucas) Additionally, these 3 are undecided up to this point. The three have received many looks and will continue to get looks this next summer. Since stingrays did not accept they are headed to Compuware. Sure wished this team was accepted. In the past few years, we had many colleges from Michigan attend Stingrays. I hope we don't lose a few colleges from the north because they can see the above players closer to home.

You wont lose a school if they are really interested, If the players are doing what they are supposed to be doing the colleges that are interested in them will look at them at another event or invite them to their camps.

Exposure tournaments are a great resource but the players need to do their work prior to attending to ensure someone will be there to watch them.
If these players did get that confirmation from a coach or school email them back and let them know your schedule has changed and where you will be playing.

you can't make everyone happy. actually, in looking at 16u, there are going to be a lot of unhappy teams. more unhappy, then happy.

it is nice that ohio has such a well respected tournament, that teams are lining up to get in. pretty soon and this will be just like the colorado exposure tournaments.

We did not get in this but got into GAPPS. Sure we beat or tied teams in the "so called" top ten poll and we do very well. I have players being looked at from colleges and one with a verble, but hey you can't win them all. I am not mad at organization or would be little them; they had a tough time (i'm sure picking out of 82 teams). Maybe next year, this year we will go to GAPPS and Compuware and hopefully win a bid to go to Nationals again. I, as a coach, will continue giving all the information I can on how to write to colleges and support them in any way I can, they will suceed with or with out a certain tournamnet....we move on and forward. Sting Rays thank you for the oppurtunity and your time for considering us; maybe next year. Good Luck to all the team that made it.

I get that the selection committee has a difficult job narrowing the teams for acceptance, and since I wouldn't want the job, I'm not going to gripe about them personally..... but let's be honest,....in some cases (notice I said some) it is about who you know and how long you've been around.

IMHO Cincy Doom North has never been recognized by the Stingray selection committee as worthy to participate regardless of the strength of schedule or roster. Each year they were denied it was asked what they needed to do to increase their chances of admission, and each year they did as suggested. They beefed up their schedule...ASA States, Lasers Invite, GAPSS, ASA qualifiers, finished 7th ASA regionals 2X (yes I realize it's ONLY regionals)...faired well in all (2010 beat Doom-Wear team 2X- meant respectfully), still not good enough...needed to attend ASA/USA....so 2011..Fall BOB, ASA qualifier, ASA States, Lasers, GAPSS, and went to ASA/USA...played respectfully against Lasers White, Wolfpack Kyler, SGS Magic and others, still result this year...not accepted. Sour grapes you say?...darn right! If it wasn't such an illustrious tournament, nobody would give a damn. Bottomline...sometimes it just doesn't matter what you do, or how many hoops you jump through...it's just not in the stars. So in the end, you have no choice but to pull up your big girl panties and move on...it's not the end of the world, although at times it feels like it...LOL

Coachdennis,
Apparently, I don't write well. I don't care that they were not invited. This team has 3 of the better players for 2013 that are still available. If they want to go to school for softball they will go. Now if you are a college coach still looking for 2013 players, would you want to see the doom with 3 of the top rated players? How many of the 18 U teams going to Stingrays have 3 highly rated players that have not decided where they want to go. The team my daughter played for last year won Stingrays and Compuware. In my opinion, from top to bottom, compuware was a little better.
