Looking at this list, I don't see what everyone is making a fuss over. It looks like the college presence will be in Chicago. Has stingray always competed with DeMarini?

Not sure (your question)

But on that same note- with more and more of the bigger schools looking at recruiting younger (i.e. 9th graders); i'm somewhat suprised that DeMarini didn't host a "futures" division i.e. 14u. Most of the teams attending DeMarini will be second year 16u teams. Sure DeMarini will draw the "bigger schools" without a doubt.

Only 1 Ohio team in the 2012 list... a metaphor for Ohio's status or lack of info in knowing about the event. Not jabbing anyone by no means, just an observation.

I'm sure there are several Ohio teams that would love to play in the event (Nightmare, Doom, MV Express etc) Its just not that easy to get an invite.

Im pretty sure the demarini event takes apps way before alot of tournies, and with how late Stingrays announces its teams you are shut out. So if you try to get into Stingrays, you miss out on other ones. I know which one ill apply to next year.

Not sure (your question) Presumably, Catalyst was asking whether they're usually the same dates. In 2012, Stingrays was July 6-8 and Demarini was July 11-15.

Demarini had 40 teams playing against each other last year - 28 18G and 12 16u. Most of the top 14-year-olds that would be of interest to the top softball programs are playing 16u. If Demarini was interested in expanding, they'd be better off adding a 16u division and allowing a few elite 14u teams into it rather than adding a 14u division. JMHO
