my DD takes her last in-car today, next week is the official test to make her a certified driver through the streets of columbus/pickerington and reynoldsburg...

any other parents worried their DD's are not only causing a spike in their insurance rates but actually given the opportunity to make road decisions...at least she doesnt make too many 14u mental mistakes on the field, or she wouldnt be driving at all...not to mention picking up guys!

ahhhhhhh:eek:

Lol Statman! Good luck with that. Glad my daughter is a couple years away from cars and boys! Although a couple of her friends are starting to 'date' so that may be getting close ...

Aaaah yes, do i remember those days. The insurance companies always matches your DD to the Ferrarri instead of the 4 door econo box you own also  .

Oh yeah Stats. DD is 17 and will be taking the test later this summer. She's been doing very well so far.

I could tell that she had already been practicing with her friends before she even got her permit, though. She was waaaay too calm and self-assured when we got to drive together for the first time. ;)

Hitter23 will remember this...his daughter was here for a hitting lesson and was fouling off the ball and I said are you driving yet? Yes she said proudly! Do you drive like you hit? What do you mean by that? Didn't I tell you to make a good first move with the lead arm elbow? Yes! Then why can't you remember that? Do you bounce the car off the guard rails, walls and curbs? No! Then why won't you put as much effort into hitting as you do driving the car? Daddy he is picking on me!:lmao:

So then I ask her if she wears make up? Yes! You mean you can not remember to make a good first move and yet we trust you to draw around your eyes with a sharp stick!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Then when you think you have see it all....do you have problems hitting a change up? Sometimes why? Well if you can not judge the speed of the ball then why would we let you pull out in front of another car? They won't hit me or we would have an accident....logic prevails!

In Canada they put a decal on the car for new drivers and it is a circle with a capital L. Not a bad idea either because at least if they do something lets say not kosher you understand why and maybe you won't go into road rage mode because of the L decal.

Good luck on your new driver.....

As to the guys....I tell my girls when a guy says you look great and looks downward ask him what color are my eyes and when he looks up and says what are you talking about remember what it felt like hitting a home run and slap him on the side of his head! ;)

Truer words have never been spoken ... You should see what "Crash" has just recently done to her car! gaurantee you she was on the phone, music too high, and driving in flops.

Ughhhh......I'm terrified!! If my dd is as responsible driving as she is with her other stuff, I'm in big trouble!!! But I shouldn't have to worry because she does know everything there is to know about everything....just ask her. :D

My dd got the learner's permit last week and it's scary at first, but this is my 2nd go-round with a new driver. Now I just find that we need to run useless errands every day so she can drive somewhere.

My DD got her liscense last Tuesday! Let's just say I am enjoying not running her around and to practice all the way in Westerville, but I am also realizing she doesn't need me as much anymore...tear, oh yea just when she needs gas money! haha.

Insurance was not as bad as I thought. Thank goodness for her she was on honor roll.

Lucky you - our insurance more than doubled with the 1st dd and she was on the honor roll! I have been told only a few hundred $ more to add #2 when she gets the real license. Maybe we should get a couple more quotes...

LOL I was thinking the same thing.....Statman please explain :)

BTW, DD just got her license at the beginning of June and MAN OH MAN is it ever nice to send her to the grocery store or to pick up one of her brothers at a friend's house! LOL As far as the insurance...OUCH! I thought it wasn't going to be too bad, but it doubled...and I've got three boys after her! The oldest boy gets his license next summer! I'm going to be teaching summer school until I retire to cover that cost.

I have insurance with Allstate. Of course all my stuff is with them-home,cars,land. And her car is paid for and almost 9 years old. That probably makes the difference.

She is just starting to feel the pinch because she has to come up with the insurance money (only $60 a month) so that means time for a part time job.

My oldest hit a deer and totaled the car. The sheriff asked her if it was a doe or a deer, she said it didnt stay around long enough to ask.

Ray,

Tell Lisa I wish her the best of luck with her test. :) That's a scary thought, I'll try to avoid Pickerington!! ;)
