before people make comments about what they think they know about, they should make sure they know all of the facts.

The fact is that the umpire in question heard something totally different than what was said, and also he was unwarranted in even making any comments to the score keeper in question because there was no comments made to him.

the score keeper left to avoid a further scene. The umpire in question was being totally out of line and taking his authority over the game too far. People should really not badmouth people without knowing all of the facts.

I stand corrected Softballrulz33, I simple commented on what i saw happen and what we where told was said. No names were used or Team names. I did not directly bad mouth anyone. However If you say that was a complete misunderstanding and the ump. was completely out of line. I apologise, I will be careful about knowing what I'm talking about in the future.

Also, we had a great time at that Tournament. It was very nicely ran. I'm sure our team will return in the future.

I believe the kids are their to play not the parents, parents are spectators and spectators pay. If you go to ANY sport as a spectator (motocross, rodeo, horseshow ect.) you pay. If paying to get into tourney is that big a problem then maybe travel ball isn't right for you. Rec leagues don't charge to get in, if that is the level you want your DD to play. That said if they were charging as much as a major league venue that could be a problem but they don't most are very reasonable.
Your wrong. JO Volleyball charges nothing to get in and their facilities are much nicer. Besides that only a few softball tournaments charge you to get in. I know it's a business so why not a deal for paying for three days?

After 5 years of travel ball with our dd, I can probably count on one hand the tournaments that did not charge for entry or parking. Our former team runs one of them. Most are not too pricey and several offer a weekend pass.

In three years I've only been to one tournament offering a weekend pass, and that was Spano. Understand we all don't go to the same tournaments.

Sorry, Volleyball is that a sport????
Sorry my DD plays for a team that allows you to play more than one sport. Volleyball and Basketball are an Olympic sport. Rodeo isn't, motocross:lmao: :lmao::lmao:

In the southeast we have a few tournaments that do not charge and let you bring in your own drinks. A couple come to mind, the Wave's tourney in Greenville & Heat-N-Up in Wilmington. I think maybe Beavercreek too. Ohioquakerman's tourneys in Goshen may not either. All great places to play and should be used more but I think it's much easier to put on tournaments at private parks cause they do most the work.

I wouldn't use the Olympics, softball is no longer and have you heard of curling? Those people (Olympic committee) not the sharpest.

This is an addition to rockandroll's response on post #10. I have just completed my ACE certification today, and the info that they provide should be made available for everyone and not just the coaches. Hopefully this will help bring back some respectability from the parents to the umpires, the coaches, and of course our DDs that particpate in this very competitive game, no matter who they are. Remembering, that this game is meant to be for fun (fans included), this is why we spend our whole weekends at the ballpark. Also, there is no losers in these contest, just ample of opportunities for improvement. Hopefully, the next time they go to a tournament that they remember to hold back there emotions a bit and have fun with their DDs, they'll probably enjoy it a little bit better. It is all about them!:)
