Don't count out any 99's that might get into the 12U division.

How many 10U's did you see playing mostly an ASA schedule last year?

The only 11u team I have seen that would deserve to be in over a 12u was Lasers Red from last year.

Agreed and we were 11u last year and had a pretty good schedule. Top tourneys have top teams...period. We were not proven going from 10u to 11u so our year at 11u we knew where we stood. Unless I played in 12u tournaments at 10u it would have difficult for me to say we belonged up as an 11u team in a 12u invitational bracket. Especially when you look at the incredible list of 98 teams. Now if a 99 won a national or regional championship...sign them up!

Red was a team of that exclusive distinction at 11u.

Early congrats to all that made the cut!

Just got my e-mail, we have been accepted for the 18's, grateful for opportunity to play and looking forward to the strong field of competition.

I'm sure Rudy and gang will be posting the teams here and on the Tourney web site soon.. emails are going out now, they probably want to make sure all are out before posting... gonna be a great weekend of softball for those that make the cut...

I brought up the 16's cause not even half of those who applied will make it in.. that's tough!

They would get accepted if the tournament didn't have the useless 10u and 12u brackets in a "showcase" setting.

What is it with college showcase tournaments with 10u and 12u brackets anyway  Never that way unless you are in Ohio.

Sure cheats a lot of girls from being seen by college coaches. Afterall, I thought it was a college showcase event...

I love the fact that 10s and 12s get to play in this tourney. I will cherish our 10u and14u championship forever. If you throw the 10's and 12's out you are still at 88 teams for 14u-16u-18u and that is a big invitational. The younger age groups are kept out of Beekman for the most part so they are not affecting this tourney at all. Remember this is also a fundraiser for the Stingrays and the Speilman foundation, so why not have the younger teams involved if it helps a cause.

The bottom line is, if you want to get accepted in these type of events, I encourage you to play a schedule that will open the eyes of the Stingrays and other tournament directors to include you in their events. BTW this type of schedule starts at 10u and 12u.

I have to agree with hitter23. There seems to be no formula for many Ohio Tournys. I have seen tournys adverstised as elite college showcases and some of the teams invited are under a .500 winning percentage and others that win consistantly are left out. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Our 18U team is looking out of state more for this next 2011 summer. We seem to be able to get in some of the best showcases such as in Chicago, Ill. but struggle to get in our own Ohio tournys. Oh well, we use it to motivate. We try and knock off the teams that got into places we didn't. Adds some extra excitement! ;)

I love the fact that Stingrays has a 10U and 12U division. It affects these girls in more ways than you can imagine, along with the parents. First of all, you start weeding out those who want to play at that next level. My dd played last year at this tourney as a 10U player, and she was awed (sp?). She did rise up to the level, and after the tourney we talked about that and she was up for that challenge. She understood what it took to get to the next level. That's from a players perspective. As a parent, it woke up those who aren't use to the triple headers and the true commitment it takes to play for a top level team like regulations on swimming, staying up late, curfews to be in the rooms, etc.

I praise the Stingrays for doing it this way. It does truly helpthe younger age brackets more than you realize.

Just to educate you, the 10s and 12s play at a different facility on the OSU campus, Coffey Fields. They attempt to bring them up to the Beekman Complex for the Championship but that is not always possible. Coffey Fields are wonderful but not what I would consider Showcase fields so the 16s and 18s do not play there. The decision last year to move the 14s to Pickerington also allowed them to expand the 16U and 18U field. This year there will be 32 18U teams and 32 16U teams.

As in the past, the list will not be posted until all of the teams have returned their email confirmation. So coaches, if you receive an acceptance email, please get your confirmation back to Rudy as soon as possible.

My 18U team was not extended an invitation after performing pretty well in most of the top tourneys of 2010, including a great showing at the Best of the Best this fall. Must be some powerhouse teams coming in.;&

I attended a lot of the top tournaments last spring/summer and only saw Ohio Hawks 16U @ Findlay. How did you all do there and what other "tough" schedule tournaments did you place at in 2009?

If you don't think Stingrays only accepts the top teams @ 16/18U then I'm not sure you've seen a top knotch tournament in Ohio.
