Apparently Tim you havent coached to many 18u teams. They are adults and its pretty tough to tuck a 18 year old in , unless you want to go to jail lol. And 18 players are pretty tough to come by. between jobs and life sometimes softball takes a back seat. Theres a reason adult leagues and college games are not played at early times thru the day for the most part. Play little ones late in the evening and youll have them about ready to pass out when the lights are coming on. Its just common sense and I really cant see why more TD,s dont recognize it.. Unless its the fact they save money by not paying for lights.

Tim

If the TD has their marketing hat on I can see giving the older kids the later times but may TD's are not good in the marketing department.

When very good teams tarnish themselves with bush tactics...like hard hand checks on stand up doubles to knock players off bags. Forearm shivers to the back of batters on drop 3rd strikes.

"A pitch shall be considered legal if the opposing team hit her in the first"
lol...

I don't know ASA rule interpretations like the back of my hand, but I'm reasonably sure that's not in there. :D

:lmao::lmao: that's some funny stuff

I don't know.. but I think the younger girls and their parents get the "short end of the stick" sometimes. Worst umpires or the most unexperienced umpires... as everyone knows the scheduler usually puts his best at 14u and up if he can. I think that is why most TD's just hate the idea they are forced to use what the scheduler sends.. versus "hand picking" his own like me.

I hear from younger team coaches how the girls get all wound up about playing under the lights.

With your theory of the older girls starting late.. I can see one good thing for the younger groups actually. If rain comes in on Saturday afternoon ( before the start of the 16u and 18u division).. at least the 10u and 12u teams got to play and their event will continue because it is already started .... versus the 16u and 18u bracket that hasn't.

When a girl stands waaaay too far away from the plate. They couldn't touch a pitch that is down the middle let alone on the outside corner.

No coolers allowed at some tournaments/fields...so you are forced to buy at their concession stand.

Poison parent on your own team that you hear bad-mouthing our own players that they don't feel are performing "up to par".

You mean YOU dont chat? :lmao:

Oh hellz yeah...just bugs me when others want to, lmao. ;& ;) :D

But seriously, I like to leave the chat for between innings for the most part, lol. I'm a bear of very little brain and I need to concentrate to keep up with the action.

Had an umpire at Laser Nation tell me that he didn't consider the pitcher's crow him "illegal" because she wasn't gaining an advantage. Hmmmm, how would you know if it was advantageous? This girl was hopping 3 inches in the air. Lol.
That was pretty much this guys stance... I walked up to the HP ump, ask him and he said, he can't see from his angle, it is the field umpire call. I hate 'calling' pitchers out on stuff like that, but rules are rules, we had it done to us last year once... I let it all drop and we played on ..

How about that butt kissing parent that will do or say "Anything" to stay on a coach's good side...And we know why they do it!

OMG! We were with a team one year where it was almost a competition among some of the parents to see who could kiss the most butt the most often. Absolutely sickening! One of the parents kept doing the little things, you know, like buying the coaches their drinks and snacks from the concession stands. These were paid coaches so it wasn't like they were volunteering their personal time or doing this for the love of the game or anything like that.

Sorry about the little rant! I feel better just knowing there is someone else out there that shares the same feelings I have about the butt kissers.
